Channel Chat: Can wireless certification boost your business?

The IEEE wireless certification offers VARs the chance prove their wireless networking skills -- and sell their expertise more easily to customers.

The IEEE Communications Society (CommSoc) is pushing a relatively new wireless certification -- Wireless Communication Engineering Technologies (WCET) -- that ensures an engineer is versed in networking issues ranging from propagation and network service architecture to access technology and security. The certification – which is obtained by an exam and renewed every three years – costs $450 for IEEE CommSoc members and $500 for non-members.

In this edition of Channel Chat, Celia Desmond, project director of the IEEE WCET, explains how becoming certified will benefit VARS, the importance of vendor-neutral certification exams, and how the WCET differs from other certifications.
