Corporate cloud storage: Storage Purchasing Intentions fall 2012 survey results

2/5

Nonbackup business cloud storage use

In Storage magazine's fall 2012 storage Purchasing Intentions survey, 29% of respondents said they were using business cloud storage for primary or nearline storage. This is about double the number who reported the same in the fall 2010 survey. Thirteen percent of respondents said they were using cloud storage for primary data in their company's data center, compared with only 8% in fall 2011. Archiving was added as a choice in the spring 2012 survey; at that time, 7% of respondents reported using cloud storage for that purpose.
