Cisco worldwide channel chief to depart company

Bruce Klein, Cisco's global channel chief, will leave his post to pursue new opportunities outside the networking company.

With the theme of "disrupt and reinvent" at the core of outgoing Cisco CEO John Chambers message as he prepares to leave company after 20 years at the helm, evidence of his message was clear today at Cisco with the announcement that Bruce Klein, the company's global channel chief, is leaving the company.

Having been an employee with Cisco since November 2004 and serving as senior vice president of their worldwide partner organization since August 2012, Klein said that he's pursuing new opportunities outside of Cisco, according to a company statement.

Wendy Bahr, senior vice president with the Americas partner organization, will assume the role of senior vice president of the Cisco worldwide partner organization, making her the first woman to serve as Cisco channel chief.

In her role as channel chief of the Americas partner organization since August 2012, Bahr was responsible for partner enablement and profitability, as well as product and service sales growth in the U.S., Canada and Latin America. Bahr was also responsible for helping Cisco partners expand their business models, enter new markets and seize new opportunities helping customers solve their business problems.

For the past three years, she has overseen a team of more than 500 employees and an ecosystem of more than 23,000 partners with annual business exceeding $18 billion, according to Cisco. Bahr is a 15-year veteran of the company.

By contrast, as global channel chief, Klein was responsible for supporting more than 60,000 partners, including systems integrators, value-added resellers, distributors, and services and technology partners who together have accounted for more than 80% of Cisco's annual revenue.

The worldwide channel team is responsible for developing strategic initiatives and programs designed to expand and deepen Cisco's market growth and ensure that the company's partners have the right capabilities and skills to meet this goal.

The company is currently in the process of identifying the next Americas channel chief.
