CompTIA Network+ exam revamped for cloud, mobility and more

This week, CompTIA updated its Networking+ exam to cover technology areas such as cloud, mobility and virtualization; Tech Data launched a Mobility Solutions and Retail division; and more.

Nonprofit trade association CompTIA has updated the CompTIA Network+ exam. The 15-year-old, vendor-neutral exam for networking professionals will now feature new and updated content in a variety of areas, such as cloud and virtualization as well as network segmentation using physical and virtual technologies. The CompTIA Network+ exam will also now have content related to wireless and mobile support, mobile device management and device security, and digital forensic techniques for preserving and securing data.

Tech Data introduces division for mobility products and retail

Distributor Tech Data Corp. has launched a Mobility Solutions and Retail division. Patrick Stokes, who has been made senior vice president of mobility solutions and retail, will lead the new division. The distributor is moving its Consumer Technology Sales team, which was until now a part of its Integrated Supply Chain Solutions (ISCS) division, into the Mobility Solutions and Retail division.

Ingram Micro hires former Avnet SVP to lead vertical markets business

Distributor Ingram Micro has named Anthony Vottima, a former senior vice president of Avnet, as executive director and general manager of its vertical markets business. In his new role, Vottima plans to introduce a new Healthcare community next quarter and release a series of education tracks and enablement resources that will develop expertise and speed up time-to-market for channel partners.
