Lifeboat Distribution expands deal with Sophos; more news

Lifeboat Distribution to offer Sophos' entire product suite to resellers; plus, news from MaintenanceNet, Service Leadership and Lumeta.

Lifeboat and Sophos expand distribution agreement

Lifeboat Distribution will distribute the complete suite of Sophos security solutions for end-user, network and server protection in the U.S. and Canada, the distributor announced this week.

Expanding its partnership with Sophos beyond distribution of Sophos' Unified Threat Management offering, Lifeboat will offer Sophos Enduser Protection Suites to resellers, including Sophos Endpoint Antivirus (as either on-premises, MSP or cloud versions) and Sophos Server Protection for Windows, Linux, Mac or Unix servers in both physical and virtual server environments.

The expanded distribution partnership also allows Lifeboat Distribution to offer Sophos for Microsoft SharePoint; Sophos Protection for Network Storage, providing antivirus protection for NetApp, EMC and Sun storage systems; and Sophos PureMessage antivirus and antispam protection for Microsoft Exchange email servers, according to the distributor.

MaintenanceNet poised for expansion

Service revenue automation vendor, MaintenanceNet Inc. this week announced an alliance with Kayne Partners, a growth private equity division of Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors L.P. The alliance will bolster MaintenanceNet's coffers, bringing in a $12 million investment to expand worldwide operations and product development initiatives.

The vendor has been ramping up product development, with expected additions to its cloud-based technology platform coming in the first half of 2014.

MaintenanceNet offers to channel partners service revenue automation products that provide access to intelligent data and customer information, help gain visibility into service opportunities, and reduce the cost of sale and administrative tasks via automation, according to the company.

Service Leadership offers new cloud app for partners

Sliq, a new business improvement cloud application for IT solution providers, was announced this week by Service Leadership Inc.

The new subscription-based application is an assessment tool to help partners and executives assess their company's "operational maturity level" in service, sales, compensation, finance and strategy, with consideration of their specific business model, the company said. It shows users where they need to progress to achieve best-in-class results using Service Leadership's assessment and guidance. Sliq can be used to create a customized plan to improve the areas of their business that will have the biggest impact in the shortest amount of time, according to Service Leadership.

Lumeta announces Network Assessment package

Lumeta Corp. this week introduced its Network Assessment professional services package, which analyzes and defines an enterprise network.

The service is based on the company's five-step program to achieving network situational awareness, defined as understanding the entire network infrastructure. According to Lumeta, the services package helps organizations improve security by identifying previously unknown and unmanaged network connections and assets.

Deliverables include the scope of IP address space in use, visibility to the edge of the network, an endpoint inventory by volume and type, a Layer 3 network topology map, and a weighted analysis of network vulnerabilities, according to the vendor.

Lumeta provides professional services based on its core IPsonar technology. These services are delivered by Lumeta consultants as well as by partners.
