Tech Data partners with collab9 to offer Cisco HCS

Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution (HCS) is gaining traction. Both Tech Data Corp. and Comstor, the Cisco-focused business unit of value-added distributor Westcon Group Inc., this week announced a distribution agreement with collab9, a Cisco HCS service provider.

The HCS offering will be available to Tech Data partners through the distributor's TDCloud business unit, specifically through its Solutions Store, powered by StreamOne.

For partners looking to grow their cloud business and expand their Cisco portfolio, the collab9 HCS offering can be white labeled. Cisco's HCS is a unified communications and collaboration solution that includes voice, telepresence, video and the Cisco WebEx collaboration platform.

According to Tech Data, the hosted offering helps businesses manage complexities found in bring-your-own-device and mobile environments, and enables real-time collaboration to improve productivity and performance in customer accounts.

Tech Data partners interested in the Cisco HCS cloud service also get access to the distributor's partner enablement team, as well as Momentum, Tech Data's exclusive customized enablement and education program designed to help partners accelerate their Cisco practices.

HP creates new channel exec role

Today, Hewlett-Packard (HP) announced a new executive channel role in the company's Enterprise Group. Sue Barsamian was appointed senior vice present of HP worldwide indirect sales and lead for the Enterprise Group channel business.

This is a new position created by Bill Veghte, the recently appointed Enterprise Group channel chief and replacement for Dave Donatelli, according to the company. Terry Richardson, vice president and general manager of U.S. channel sales at HP, remains in his position.

In yet another shift of top-level HP channel executives, CEO Meg Whitman is trying to solidify a strong leadership team. Nearly 70% of HP's Enterprise Group revenue is through the channel, according to the company.

Tech Data announces new services for HP partners

HP partners working through Tech Data's HP Solutions Group will now have access to HP 3PAR StorServ 7000 Storage installation and startup services, the distributor announced at Tech Data Fall Channel Link, being held this week in Anaheim, Calif.

The authorized HP ServiceOne delivery partner was already delivering pre-sale and point-of-sale services. The new agreement extends the HP services available to partners through Tech Data to implementation and support, enabling HP midmarket partners in particular to expand their offerings to customers and bolster their earning opportunity, according to the distributor.

This is just the beginning of expanded services offerings delivered through HP ServiceOne, which in the future will include, among other offerings, product lifecycle services.

VCE upgrades partner program with new specializations, enablement support

Converged infrastructure vendor VCE this week announced enhancements to its partner program in addition to a number of new products and services.

Fueled by partner feedback and a desire to help partners develop and grow their converged infrastructure practice faster, VCE Partner Program enhancements include a revised tier system, new specializations, benefits and incentives, as well as tools, materials and sales opportunities, according to the company.

Partner program tier levels include Authorized -- for streamlined onboarding of new partners -- and Silver and Gold, which acknowledge and reward existing partners for their investments in VCE.

New specializations focus on mission-critical applications, end-user computing, messaging and communications, and professional services.

VCE is also making available to partners new training and sales enablement tools, pre-built marketing campaign materials, lead and demand generation programs and technical resources, all focused on building a converged infrastructure practice.

Ingram Micro offers expanded Promark GSA Schedule

Ingram Micro this week announced the addition of several new vendors -- Panasonic, Falconstor, Jabra and Whiptail -- to Promark's General Services Administration (GSA) schedule.

The expanded GSA schedule focuses on technologies such as communications, data protection, networking, ruggedized computing, storage and virtualization, according to Ingram Micro.

This most recent GSA announcement expands on an earlier one made at the beginning of the year that featured Cisco's portfolio as part of Promark's GSA schedule.

Ingram Micro acquired value-added distributor Promark in 2012, and made available its GSA schedule to its channel partners that focus on the public sector market.

Ingram Micro to distribute Whiptail flash storage

Whiptail, a solid-state memory systems vendor that is being acquired by Cisco, this week signed a global distribution agreement with Ingram Micro.

Ingram Micro partners will gain access to Whiptail's entire portfolio of silicon flash storage arrays -- Accela, Invicta and Invicta Infinity – as well as the RacerRunner operating system to help customers accelerate application performance, according to the distributor.

Avnet announces technical service offering for Polycom partners

Recently awarded the Polycom RealPresence Services Specialization designation, Avnet announced new technical service offerings through Avnet Services to Polycom partners in the U.S. and Canada.

According to the distributor, resellers of Polycom unified communications and collaboration products will be able to offer their customers Level 1 and Level 2 support from Avnet's Polycom Video Conferencing Engineers. These certified experts can provide technical support, identify problems and will have access to a working lab to help with issue resolution.

The new technical service offerings from Avnet expand partners' business portfolio opportunities without having to build in-house expertise.

VaultLogix new partner incentive program

For partners who like incentives, VaultLogix is providing 20 GB of free cloud storage to new resellers signing up through Oct. 31.

The cloud backup service provider has a reseller program that allows partners to purchase online backup services wholesale and establish their own pricing and margin levels for their customers, according to the company.

The vendor's Cash for Clients incentive program for current partners will remain in place through the end of the year.
