Arrow ECS adds MozyPro to its ArrowSphere cloud aggregation platform; more news

MozyPro backup has been added to Arrow ECS' cloud aggregation lineup; plus, Ovum report shows big revenue bump in the IT services industry in Q2.

MozyPro added to ArrowSphere

Data access and backup provider Mozy has expanded its distribution agreement with Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions to target small- and medium-sized enterprise companies across EMEA. The agreement between the two companies previously focused on corporate and enterprise customers, under the auspices of the EMC Velocity Solution Provider Program.

Mozy's MozyPro cloud services for data access and online backup will be available through Arrow's new ArrowSphere cloud services aggregation platform. According to Seattle-based Mozy, this new platform has been designed to aid resellers in combining cloud services for their IT organization customers.

According to Arrow, the ArrowSphere platform will be available in the United States in 2013.

Analyst firm Ovum reports big jump in IT services in Q2

Revenue in the IT services industry nearly doubled in the second quarter over last year, according to new research by global analyst firm Ovum.

Ovum's IT Services Contracts Quarterly Analysis 2Q12 shows the total contract value of deals announced in the second quarter of this year increased to $34.8 billion, an 82% rise from the same period last year. London-based Ovum cited six deals valued at more than $1 billion each, two involving U.S. defense agencies, as drivers of the huge increase.

The two biggest geographic markets in the IT services industry remain the U.S. and U.K., accounting for more than 80% of the quarterly total contract value.

Ovum's IT Services Contracts Quarterly Analysis looks at revenue in the areas of applications services, business process outsourcing, infrastructure services, IT consulting, network services and systems integration.

STORServer updates reseller portal

Data backup solutions provider STORServer this week announced changes to its online reseller portal.

STORServer's VAR partners will now receive sales inquiries directly from the portal. Changes were made to the portal's navigation, dashboard, at-a-glance account information, lead management and marketing and training resources.

The portal has a central dashboard page with links to frequently accessed portal resources and a summary of account activity. The dashboard displays information on active and expired accounts, as well as on accounts that need to be refreshed.

STORServer, which is based in Colorado Springs, Colo., is planning more changes to the portal later this year, including adding the ability for partners to customize the dashboard. The next update will also include integration with CRM tools and a quote tool demonstration video.
