Oracle-Sun acquisition gets green light from European Commission

The much-debated Oracle-Sun acquisition has finally received a stamp of approval from the European Commission (EC).

On April 20, 2009, Oracle Corp. officially entered into an agreement to acquire Sun Microsystems. The deal has since been under scrutiny from Sun stockholders, partners and the EC.

More solutions providers are also expressing their concerns now that the Oracle-Sun acquisition has EC consent. Some Sun partners worry over potential loss of maintenance renewal revenue, and quite a few Oracle VARs feel the merger with Sun will just amplify competition for software license sales, according to
