Enterasys appoints new channel chief

Enterasys has appointed a former Sybase executive and experienced global sales executive as head of channel sales.

Enterasys Networks, which began life as Cabletron, went public, declined, then went private again after being bought by The Gores Group, has appointed John Fraser as vice president of worldwide channels.

Fraser was chosen because of what Mike Fabiaschi, Enterasys president and CEO, called an impressive record of success in sales, particularly through the channel.

Fabiaschi, who took over as chief executive in May of this year, said at the time that he would make Enterasys a more customer- and channel-focused company, rather than one that focused only on products.

Fraser spent six years in executive-level sales jobs at Sybase Inc., before being appointed senior vice president of the Americas for customer-resource management software vendor Onyx Software Corp. in April of 2002. Before that he spent four years as a salesman and sales manager at MAI Basic Four. He also spent time at reporting-software vendor Windward Reports and, most recently, as VP of worldwide sales operations at Openwave Systems.
