What challenges do service providers, value-added resellers (VARs) and systems integrators (SIs) face as they address migration to a more service-based business led by cloud initiatives?

Cloud is a hot topic because of its promises of reduced costs and IT investment as well as increased green and productivity benefits. Solution providers are desperate to differentiate themselves and demonstrate their value to their customers. They know that customers are grappling with IT costs; in some cases, these customers are struggling to provide the same level of services, but with a 30% reduction in their IT budgets. To compensate many are looking to and taking advantage of cloud. Service providers already have large investments in network operations centers (NOCs), and it's easier for them to join forces with VARs and SIs to meet this need than it would be to start from scratch.
