Among midrange data backup and recovery software products, EMC Corp.'s Retrospect had dominated, winning top honors in three of four prior surveys. But in the latest survey, Retrospect failed to pick up enough responses to be included among the finalists. The new ruler of midrange backup apps is Acronis Inc.'s Acronis Backup & Recovery, which got enough responses to qualify for the first time and, like CommVault, topped the field in four of five categories.
