Data backup and recovery software Quality Awards: 2010 Enterprise and midrange winners

In our 2010 Quality Awards service and reliability survey on data backup and recovery software, CommVault Systems Inc.'s Simpana data protection suite had another impressive win in the enterprise section. Users rated the company's flagship product with the highest scores in four of the five categories in our survey, putting the company back into the winner's circle for the fourth time.

Among midrange data backup and recovery software products, EMC Corp.'s Retrospect had dominated, winning top honors in three of four prior surveys. But in the latest survey, Retrospect failed to pick up enough responses to be included among the finalists. The new ruler of midrange backup apps is Acronis Inc.'s Acronis Backup & Recovery, which got enough responses to qualify for the first time and, like CommVault, topped the field in four of five categories.
