Ingram Micro, VAR Resources team on end-user leasing

A new Ingram Micro end-user leasing program, using VAR Resources expertise, aims to help U.S. VARs close deals faster in a tough economy. VAR Resources has more than 20 years of experience helping VARs get the end-user leasing terms they need to expedite IT purchases, the companies said this week. Most leasing deals can be approved within a day, they said. Funding is available to cover all sorts of IT solutions.

Ingram Micro has offered end-user leasing before, but it's the first time it has teamed up with a player like VAR Resources to do so.

Data centers watch Dell-Perot deal with interest

Tech buyers must weigh the risks of vendor lock-in against the convenience of a one-stop shop, according to SearchDataCenter.com.

Parallels to pitch bare-metal hypervisor in the cloud

Parallels' new bare-metal hypervisor is roughly analogous to VMware ESX and Citrix Systems' XenServer and includes management and scalability features designed for multi-tenancy service provider environments. While the company has a low profile in enterprise IT, its Parallels Virtuozzo Containers product is huge with hosting providers. Those companies use OS virtualization software to slice a single Linux or Windows environment into hundreds of virtual private servers. Parallels Server 4 Bare Metal, on the other hand, is a traditional type-one hypervisor that allows multiple virtual machines running different operating systems simultaneously on the same machine.
