Juniper pulls preso from Black Hat confab

Juniper Networks Inc. nixed plans by one of its security researchers to demonstrate a way to hack an ATM at the Black Hat Briefings in Las Vegas.

The "Jackpotting Automated Teller Machines" presentation was slated to run July 30 but was pulled from the schedule on Monday. Juniper Networks confirmed the cancellation. In a statement, the vendor said it received a request to pull the presentation from an ATM vendor, according to SearchSecurity.com.

New Cisco certification opens options for network engineers

Cisco Systems this week unveiled its Cisco Certified Architect program, a new certification that sits atop Cisco's most elite career certifications, the Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) and Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE).

The Cisco Certified Architect (CCA) certification, announced at Cisco Live in San Francisco, translates business requirements into technical specifications, said Sanjay Mehta, product manager for Learning@Cisco. CCA candidates must go beyond demonstrating expertise with network architecture and show that they can communicate with C-level executives to understand business objectives and translate them into technological blueprints, according to SearchNetworking.com.
