Apple's Jobs had liver transplant
Apple Chairman and CEO Steve Jobs had a liver transplant two months ago, The Wall Street Journal reported late Friday. No sources were named. Apple had no comment beyond confirming that Jobs is due back from his previously announced leave of absence at the end of June. Valleywag sums up the Journal's report here. Jobs, who has battled pancreatic cancer, handed over day-to-day responsibilities to Apple COO Tim Cook in January.
VMware licensing controversy explored
VMware Inc. unleashed a kerfuffle with the way it's licensing its vSphere upgrade. The upgrade adds a new and pricier top-level license and VMware will nix sales of the current Enterprise license by year's end.
