Microsoft vows Oct. 22 date for Win 7
Windows 7 will be on the shelves -- and on PC hard drives -- on Oct. 22, Microsoft said. The date was announced in the Windows Team Blog on Wednesday. RTM for Win 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, the other half of the Windows desktop-server tandem, is expected in the second half of July -- right on time for another hype fest at the company's Worldwide Partner Conference.
Cisco computing systems to come in rack and blade versions
Cisco Systems Inc. launched new channel certifications and training for its Unified Computing System and said the server will come in rackmount and blade offerings.
The company initially said UCS would be a blade server system, but it will now be available in either blade or C-Series rack server versions, according to SearchDataCenter.com. The news came out at the Cisco's partner conference in Boston this week.
