Tech Data signs Fonality
Tech Data Corp. inked a distribution pact with Fonality, a provider of open source unified communications (UC) business systems. Tech Data's Telephony Specialized Business Unit (SBU) offer resellers Fonality's open source, "hybrid-hosted" solutions, including the trixbox Pro IP-PBX system. Trixbox brings VoIP and UC to small and medium businesses (SMBs).
Microsoft taps Marathon for fault-tolerance
Microsoft tapped Marathon Technologies Corp. to bring Marathon's everRun fault-tolerance software to Windows Server-based applications and in the future, to Hyper-V virtualization . With everRun, virtual machines (VMs) and Windows applications run in lockstep on two servers. When hardware on one server fails, failover software enables applications to keep running. The Microsoft-Marathon deal was announced Jan. 9.
