Kaseya intros quick paths to adding managed services offerings

Kaseya said its Powered Services offerings can help MSPs quickly expand their portfolios to include security and network management services; other news from the week.

IT management software vendor Kaseya has introduced certification and sales enablement packages to help MSPs quickly start selling new managed services offerings.

The packages, dubbed Powered Services, provide managed service providers with a range of enablement resources for Kaseya's identity access management (IAM) product, AuthAnvil Security as a Service, as well as Kaseya's Traverse Network Monitoring as a Service offering. The Powered Services packages include sales training, pricing, lead generation and insight into positioning the products -- all with the aim of rapidly bringing the services to market.

"While MSPs are [strong] at providing quality service to their clients, one of the areas that they generally need help in is how to take a new service offering to market," said Jim Lippie, general manager of cloud computing at Kaseya, based in Waltham, Mass.

Lippie explained that launching new managed services offerings requires MSPs to devote time, energy and resources, which can create risk for the companies. "What we have done is we have eliminated that risk by giving [MSPs] a sales enablement package around the software they buy from us and end up reselling to their customers."

Pointing to the cybersecurity market specifically, Lippie said many MSPs are reluctant to provide security services because they believe they need to be experts to do so. However, using Kaseya's Powered Services, MSPs can get rapidly trained and ready to sell a product like AuthAnvil Security as a Service -- potentially within 24 hours, he said.

While focused today on IAM and network management, Powered Services will add a cloud-management-as-a-service offering this fall, he said. The service will use the Unigma cloud management platform, which Kaseya acquired in March, to let MSPs manage their clients' infrastructure on the public cloud.

Microsoft Inspire product, service launches

Channel companies and the vendors targeting them launched a number of products and services at the Microsoft Inspire 2017 conference.

In distribution, Tech Data Corp. said it will provide an offering that integrates Microsoft 365 Business with the distributor's Small Business Cloud Server. Microsoft 365 Business, also announced at the show, is a packaging of Microsoft Office, Windows 10 and Enterprise Mobility + Security for SMBs. Small Business Cloud Server, which runs on Microsoft Azure, also is geared toward the SMB market. Ingram Micro, meanwhile, promoted general availability of its Cloud Orchestrator and its Azure enablement program at the conference.

NetEnrich, a cloud and IT operations service company that markets to channel partners, is teaming with Microsoft and Tech Data to support customers in Western Europe. The companies are offering, for a limited time, a program that gives midsize and enterprise customers a free Azure cloud migration evaluation. The service, launched at Microsoft Inspire 2017, will have initial availability in the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden and Spain.

BitTitan, a managed service automation vendor, announced at Microsoft Inspire its MSPComplete Publisher Program, which lets ISVs publish BitTitan's Automated Runbooks. The program's early adopters include Datto and Dropbox.

  • Shamrock Solutions and Concerto Cloud Services are focusing on cloud-based enterprise content management (ECM) in a new alliance. Shamrock Solutions, an IT services and ECM firm, will use Concerto's customized cloud service to help customers host ECM applications, according to the companies.
  • EventTracker, a security information and event management (SIEM) vendor, unveiled a channel program that the company said lets managed service providers operate as managed security service providers. The EventTracker Partner Program unites the company's SIEM technology, a global security operations center, and managed threat detection and response, the company said.
  • Mist Systems, which provides wireless networking technology, unveiled a partner program for its managed wireless services offering. The company said the multi-tiered program has an online certification program for designing, deploying and operating Mist products; a partner portal with sales tools and educational material; and co-op marketing funds. Mist also revealed a distribution agreement with WAV Inc. to distribute the vendor's wireless platform in North America.
  • CrowdStrike Inc., a vendor of cloud-based endpoint protection offerings, appointed Matthew Polly as vice president of worldwide business development and channels. Polly was previously vice president of worldwide alliance and business development at AppDynamics, which Cisco acquired earlier this year.
