Yesterday, cloud-delivered security provider OpenDNS rolled out Centralized Settings, a new management feature, in its Umbrella for MSPs console, the company's advanced security service with predictive analytics for managed services providers (MSPs).Originally designed for large enterprises, OpenDNS adapted Umbrella for MSPs to deploy enterprise-grade security coverage to their small and medium-sized business (SMB) customers' networks. "When [we look] at the MSP space, we see these IT professionals who are running businesses that are doing all-you-can-eat IT on a subscription basis mainly focused upon SMBs. … And they have really been stuck in this world where they've been offering SMB solutions to their SMBs when, in reality … they have thousands of users under management and really can be thought of more as a midmarket organization that's split up into lots of SMBs that they're serving," said Dima Kumets, managed services provider product manager at OpenDNS.

"Not only is it advanced security, but it's advanced security that's built for the way MSPs operate and allows them to deploy it and manage it in a highly efficient manner, which is, of course, critical to being a profitable MSP," he said.
Umbrella for MSP's Centralized Settings allows MSPs to deploy and manage OpenDNS' predictive security in a multi-tenant dashboard; create and apply customer-tailored standards, such as specific vertical or service-class policies; and execute policy changes across multiple customers, streamlining policy management and eliminating repetitive tasks. MSPs can also create a default policy for all new customers, as well as look at policies across all customers in a single-pane-of-glass view and quickly fix any inconsistencies.
Additionally, the Centralized Settings feature provides controls for creating branded block pages, customized security settings and Web-filtering bundles within the OpenDNS Umbrella for MSPs console. Later changes to standard policies can be applied automatically to all customers using the same setting.
Kumets said that he has received reports from MSPs that Umbrella has reduced as much as 60% to 80% in reactive hours spent addressing malware issues. According to Kumets, this reduction in time and money dedicated to dealing with infections is significant, because it allows MSPs to invest resources that would otherwise be spent managing infections into developing their operations and bringing on additional customers. "Any infection eats away at profitability," he said.
OpenDNS said it will showcase Centralized Settings and other enhancements to the OpenDNS Umbrella for MSPs dashboard at Booth 214 at this year's IT Nation conference in Orlando, Fla., Nov. 12 through 14.
Metalogix launches Cloud Acceleration Suite Partner Program
Metalogix has launched the Cloud Acceleration Suite and a corresponding partner program to assist clients with the deployment of collaboration capabilities in cloud platforms, including Microsoft Office 365, Azure, Amazon Web Services, and hybrid and private cloud.
Bringing together Metalogix's migration and management tools for collaboration platforms and Microsoft-qualified cloud deployment partners, the partner program aims to provide organizations with tools for migration of email, files and SharePoint content to the cloud.
The Metalogix Cloud Acceleration Suite contains tools for deployment, adoption and ongoing management. The suite also offers tools to organization employees for moving business content from their personal cloud storage into their corporate cloud storage accounts.
The suite can be offered in conjunction with Microsoft's Office 365 Adoption Offer FastTrack program, which provides funds to Microsoft clients that enlist the help of a Microsoft-qualified partner to conduct adoption activities. Microsoft's FastTrack program is available until March 2015.
Arrow adds Advoda networking services to ArrowSphere
National master agent Advoda has signed an agreement with distributor Arrow Electronics Inc. that adds Advoda's network, Internet and voice services to Arrow's cloud service portfolio in the U.S. and Canada. Advoda's network services will now be offered to Arrow solution providers through the ArrowSphere online marketplace.
Advoda products and services include WAN, MPLS, dedicated high-speed Internet (via fiber, Ethernet over Copper, or coax), cloud access/direct connect, VoIP, SIP trunking and hosted IP PBX. Additionally, Arrow solution providers can access Advoda's portfolio of suppliers, which range from local and niche companies to national, global and tier 1 carriers.
Advoda said it will provide Arrow solution providers with pre- and post-sales support, technical sales architects, project and lifecycle management, and full network sales process outsourcing.
