and restore for cloud applications, announced today that Garrett Jones is the company's vice president of sales.
Jones, who served as vice president of global channel operations at Symantec for 15 months, worked at the company since June 2006. In his latest position at Spanning, Jones is responsible for building and developing Spanning's multi-channel sales efforts, including programs and processes to spur growth internationally, according to the company. About 40% of Spanning's revenue is currently generated from international sales.
Zachary Mandeville is currently the interim leader of global channel operations for Symantec, according to the company.
Successful channel organizations have channel leadership teams that are well-known and respected by the partner community, and leave them in place.

The Symantec channel partner program redo is in line with its "Symantec 4.0" vision, announced in January 2013, designed to turn around less-than-stellar financial performance over the past couple of years. The new corporate strategy includes streamlining and simplifying the company, cost cutting and a greater focus on research and development to deliver better performance to customers and partners.
Symantec 4.0 was largely carried out by CEO Steve Bennett, who was hired in July 2013 and was fired in March. Michael Brown is serving as interim president and CEO.
Diane Krakora, CEO of partner development firm PartnerPath, said about the Symantec departures: "Partners crave stability. One reason that Cisco has been [so] successful in the channel is because of the longevity of their executive team -- particularly John Chambers. Successful channel organizations have channel leadership teams that are well-known and respected by the partner community, and leave them in place to build relationships and trust with partners."
In response to Bennett's departure, Jon Oltsik, senior principal analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, had a few pieces of advice for Symantec's next CEO: become the leading provider of managed and professional security services; leverage acquisitions to grow; streamline; establish a cyber security architecture and ecosystem; make Symantec products and services easier to sell and consume; and establish Symantec as a center of excellence for talented employees.
John Eldh is currently Symantec's North American channel chief, a position he's held since March 2012.
