According to EMC, the DD2200 is priced to offer data protection for midmarket customers with enterprise product features such as the ability to back up 36 TB of data in less than eight hours; protect up to 860 TB logical capacity in a 2U format with up to 17.2 TB usable capacity; simultaneously support as many as 60 backup/archive streams; and support 1 billion files in large-archive workloads.
According to Gregg Ambulos, senior vice president of global and Americas Channel sales for the company, EMC's recent midmarket strategy gives distributors the ability to drive its VNXe business and low-end Data Domain business with partners.
Yesterday's Data Domain product announcement comes on the heels of another recent product announcement that targets midmarket customers – the hybrid flash VNXe3200 storage array -- also sold through EMC's global channel partners.
The VNXe3200 is the latest addition to EMC's VNX family of storage solutions. The product is three times more efficient than the previous VNXe systems, according to the company.
Partners can offer SMB customers the DD2200 with the new VNXe3200 for storage and data protection.
