resellers (DMRs), focused on its Nytro PCIe-based flash storage products.
The company’s Valued Solution Partner Program is a three-tier program that officials said has strong backing from the LSI executive team -- which, they say, means it will have a greater chance of success. In setting up the partner program, company officials said that the LSI team solicited feedback around how to craft a partner program and what mistakes to avoid. LSI has another, existing partner program focused on system builders.
The company’s channel partner program for VARs includes lead generation, deal registration, market development funds, sales incentives, access to LSI’s sales and tech support hot line, and sales and technical training.
The target market for the Valued Solution Partner Program are midsized and enterprise VARs that are competent in storage, virtualization, data center and cloud computing, practicing in the media and entertainment, financial, oil and gas, retail, and insurance vertical industries.
The company said it intends to recruit five Premier-level VAR partners by the end of 2012 and 15 Preferred-level partners and up to twice those numbers by the end of 2013.
The LSI Nytro line includes three products. According to the company, the lower-end LSI Nytro MegaRAID Application Acceleration Cards combine flash and spinning disk and are intended for direct-attached storage (DAS) use for databases, data mining and high-performance computing. The LSI Nytro XD Application Acceleration Storage Solution, meanwhile, provides server-side acceleration of DAS and SAN storage and is aimed at large IT installations running databases and data mining applications. Finally, the LSI Nytro WarpDrive Application Acceleration Cards deliver high-performance storage directly on the server’s PCIe bus and are targeted at applications such as online transaction processing (OLTP).
Most of the Nytro WarpDrive and Nytro XD models are available now. The Nytro MegaRAID will be available sometime in the third quarter, officials said. Pricing on the WarpDrive line ranges from $5,945 for an eMLC-based Nytro WarpDrive NWD-BLP4-400 to $20,795 on an eMLC-based Nitro NWD-BLP4-1600. The Nytro XD Application Acceleration Storage Solution, which combines a Nytro WarpDrive card with Nytro XD intelligent caching software, costs $10,695.
