is to help solution providers deploy and manage virtualized desktops for customers while improving cost efficiency.

ITCM r12.5 can help a customer move from a traditional desktop environment to a virtualized one by providing support for virtualized platforms such as VMware ESX and virtualized applications, including Microsoft App-V and VMware ThinApp.

The new CA offering supports Windows 7 and the company says it allows customers to optimize power management with built-in Green IT analytics.

VMware racing to stay ahead of pack by adding to cloud services

To stay current with competing cloud offerings, VMware Inc. bought a number of technologies to augment its own cloud services and keep enterprise customers happy.

Among VMware's latest buys are SpringSource, GemStone Systems and Zimbra, all of which fill specific needs for the company.

VMware will use its vCloud to compete with IBM Smart Business Development and Test Cloud and Google App Engine. Customers can choose from virtual machine tools or images from the VMware Virtual Appliance Marketplace.

A major drawback was vCloud's incompatibility with existing VMware environments, but VMware says that the vCloud Service Director and the new vCloud application programming interfaces will alleviate the problem.
