Microsoft preview deluge

Among a bevy of Microsoft software previews posted Tuesday were community technology previews for

SQL Server Azure Database and SQL Server StreamInsight. The latter will be a component of SQL Server 2008 R2, due in the first half of 2010. Microsoft posted the CTP for the overall database last week along with the Windows Server 2008 R2 release to manufacturing build.

Also newly available is the release candidate (RC) for Exchange Server 2010.

RightScale puts BI on a budget

RightScale, JasperSoft and a few other players are offering a smorgasbord of cloud-based data processing and business intelligence tools at dollar-store prices. The goal is to make enterprise-quality analytics available on demand at a reasonable price. Talend Inc. provides the data integration expertise and Vertica Systems Inc. has the database know how, according to SearchCloudComputing.com.
