Can the company keep big companies coming back for more of its virtualization wares as Microsoft ramps up its Hyper-V onslaught?

On its second quarter earnings call, VMware execs accentuated the positive -- claiming a quarter of a million vSphere 4 downloads in six weeks, with revenue at the high end of forecasts and strong "transactional" revenue as well. But re-signing multiyear volume deals or enterprise licensing agreements will be key as the company tries to fend off Microsoft, according to SearchServerVirtualization.com.

Kyocera Mita America launches printers for SMBs

Kyocera Mita America last week released new Energy Star-rated printers geared toward small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and shared workgroup environments.

The FS-1128MFP, FS-1028MFP/DP and FS-1028MFP printers support a variety of network and device management tools, such as the KMnet Admin and KMnet Viewer. They feature a front-loading USB Host Interface, a PowerPC 440/667 MHz processor and 1200 dpi print resolution and advanced security technologies, which support IPsec and IPv6.

The FS-1128MFP, FS-1028MFP/DP and FS-1028MFP printers list for $1,371, $1,181 and $1,020 respectively.
