Located in Ingram Micro's Buffalo, N.Y., service facility, the solution center is available to EMC's accredited channel partners in the U.S. These partners can use the center to get deep technical training or to take other classes around EMC's data center infrastructure and VMware virtualization technologies, according to Ingram Micro.

Tech Data adds Hitachi whiteboards

Tech Data Corp. now offers resellers StarBoard interactive whiteboards from Hitachi Software Engineering America Ltd. The interactive digital whiteboards aid classroom learning, courtroom demos and discussion documentation. StarBoard content transfers to a desktop or notebook for archiving and sharing.

IBM Smart Cubes flow through Ingram

Early this month, Ingram Micro became the first broadline distributor to offer IBM's Smart Cube appliance-like devices for small and medium-sized businesses.

The Smart Cubes bundle IBM hardware, operating system (OS) and management software along with applications for specific customer types. IBM Business partners can further customize the appliance for their clients. Last month, IBM and Intuit unveiled a new Smart Cube that runs Linux or the IBM I (OS/400) OS, appropriate middleware and Intuit's popular QuickBooks Enterprise Solution's accounting software.

Avnet's virtual trade show developed for struggling partners

Avnet Technology Solutions launched a new virtual trade show to show off embedded services for North American OEMs, independent software vendors, systems builders and systems integrators.

By changing the event to a virtual format, Avnet hopes to save its customers time and money. Participants can attend webinars and video demonstrations and download white papers and brochures.

Avnet will also host its annual Avnet Compass conference for Sun Microsystems' partners Aug. 16 to 18 in Denver.
