Survey: Businesses starting to 'get' Enterprise 2.0

Business adoption of Enterprise 2.0 technologies has doubled in the last year, according to industry researcher AIIM. More than 50% of 789 knowledge workers surveyed said Enterprise 2.0 is important or very important to their companies' success. Businesses now have a better understanding of how Web 2.0 technologies, such as wikis, blogs, communication forums and social networks, can improve collaboration and knowledge sharing. One quarter of them are implementing Enterprise 2.0 tools in all departments, compared to 12% in the 2008 survey. Only 17% do not know what Enterprise 2.0 is, down from 40% in 2008. A report on social media sites showed that 68% think professional networking on websites such as LinkedIn and Facebook is necessary for career growth.
