The Unified Computing System (UCS), announced last week, wasn't an immediate hit with Cisco partners. They said most VARs won't be able to benefit from the platform, because it targets only large business customers -- at least for now. Data center managers and virtualization pros also expressed concerns about letting one vendor control their entire infrastructure.
Oracle launches Sales Readiness Verification
Oracle partners have new training available. The company has announced the Sales Readiness Verification program for partners selling Oracle Fusion Middlware, Oracle Database and the Oracle Grid. The program will let partners specialize in identity management, business intelligence, Enterprise 2.0 and other technologies. Oracle plans to certify 75 partners by the end of the year, and the company said it will drive deals to those partners.
Microsoft WPC09 Awards deadline approaching
Want to be recognized at this summer's Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference? You have to nominate yourself, and you have to do it soon. The deadline for WPC09 Awards submissions is next Thursday, April 2.
Microsoft will recognize partners in 25 different categories at the conference, which takes place July 13-16 in New Orleans.
