NEC looks to resellers for North American growth

NEC, king of the Japanese server market, is making a push to become more visible in North America. A big part of that push is NEC's attendance this week at VMworld 2008, where the company announced its Express5800 server designed specifically for virtualization.

will also play a major role in the effort. There are about 60 NEC resellers in North America, accounting for 90% of the vendor's revenue in the market -- and an even higher percentage of its sales -- according to Steve DeBonis, channel director for NEC's IT platform group.
