ERM, security on large companies' minds next year

hot technologies will include Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), consumer relationship management (CRM) and new business intelligence (BI) deployments.

The increased attention given to SaaS marks the first time interest in the model is actually higher among large companies than it is among small to medium-sized companies (SMBs), said Forrester research analyst Ray Wang. He said that HR applications have come into their own within SaaS, where CRM systems like Salesforce.com were once the big players. Meanwhile, companies which have already consolidated their data with ERM will seek to use new BI technology to analyze it.

In a separate survey, Forrester found that SMBs will be investing in software written for their specific markets. 10% of them plan to buy vertical software for the first time, while 43% plan to upgrade their existing vertical applications.
