HP channel chief to leave, lead workstation group

Hewlett-Packard Co. has announced its channel chief will be leaving Jan. 1 to take over its global workstation division. No replacement has been named.

John Thompson has been VP and general manager of the Solutions Partner Organization (SPO) at HP for two years; a statement from HP credits him with increasing revenue for the SPO for 11 consecutive quarters and for cutting costs in HP's PartnerOne program. After Jan. 1, 2007 he will take over the global workstation division of HP's Personal Systems Group.

HP will name a successor within the next few weeks, according to the announcement.
