How large is the customer's employee pool?
To provide the most appropriate solution for the customer, we need to understand, right from the start, how many employees work for the organization. We'll need to provide a different authentication solution to a small "mom-and-pop" company than we would to a huge Fortune 500 organization. Aside from the obvious financial ramifications of installing the wrong solution, there are also complexity issues we should take into account.
For example, a small company may not have the in-house skills required to maintain a large LDAP or Active Directory installation. The complexity involved may offset any potential benefits they would have received through the use of such a solution. Remember, the authentication solution we select must fit the organization.
