Things at Novell have been quiet lately. Maybe too quiet.
There’s an all-hands meeting there this morning and insider talk once again swirls about a possible sale. Whether that would be to private equity investors–who would take the company private–or to another vendor–VMware? IBM? HP? Someone else?–is an open question. Last spring Novell spurned a buyout offer from a Elliott Partners and said it would explore other options.

One Novell/SUSE VAR said it’s always possible that Oracle could buy, “but if that happens, I’ll shoot myself,” he noted.
Maybe we’ll hear soon. Or maybe not.
