Which best practices should be put in place by a VAR for a customer who is concerned with compliance?

Data compliance is a very broad concept; most IT people focus on data retention rules. One of the fastest ways to save money in data storage is to control growth. The easiest way to control growth is to delete old data. The quickest way to wind up in jail is to delete information that is protected by federal regulations. The best way to help customers safely delete data is to identify applicable regulations for their industry. Then help them identify tools that can classify and manipulate the data.
